no sound 1.7.5

As of April 2nd, Minecraft sounds do not work (menu, in game)
All sounds worked on march 31.
All sounds worked with April fools prank, April 1.

I deleted .minecraft folder, and reinstalled.
Ran previous version of minecraft (back to 1.5.1).
I have not updated my sound drivers recently (and other sounds/games work normally).

I have attempted F3+S, and all other means of troubleshooting found on Youtube and the minecraft forums.
