Shift clicking on an item doesn't create a stack/Right clicking with item doesn't stack items one at a time in workbench/furnace

Whenever I press shift and click on an item, a stack doesn't show up under the cursor. This also happens in survival mode. Also when I right click with an item, they don't place one at a time in the workbench or furnace.
