My avatar became a villager and says everything I look at

What I expected to happen was...:
Normal music and Avatar skin.

What actually happened was...:
Turning on the game I click single player. I hear a voice going
" da da doo"
to the tune of the normal music. Clicking my saved game this continues as well as a softer voice saying the name of the block of what is in my cross-hairs.

Rebooting the computer multiple times and starting the game fresh has not started the game normal.
