Fishing Rod Flying Up After Caught Mob Dies Of Fall Damage

Whenever I cast a fishing rod, after I launch a mob into the air at a sufficient height to kill it, grab the mob again, and the mob dies while still still hooked. Then the fishing rod goes to the point where the mob as caught at a random x and z.
