When in a minecartt falling down a waterfall, the player takes fall damage at the end

Wanted to use water stream in ravine to transport player down. Built track running into the stream and when i reached the bottom i took fall damage. Possibly, Water does not recognize minecart, minecart is too heavy and acts like pig falling off of Cliff.
