water doesn't put burning silverfish out

As the title suggests when a silverfish is set on fire (lava is what I've tested) if you try and put it out with water. it doesn't work and the silverfish still act like the water isn't there (air block). The Way to fix this problem is when you light a silverfish on fire to drop it into water.
