unable to use "lightning" (not sure if this is a bug or was overlooked)

when i was making my minecraft project i searched in the /particle commands to see if "lightning" was there, cause i think it's a particle, i then looked through /summon and found nothing. I'm not sure if "lightning" was over looked and just not placed there or was glitched out.
