the map does not load

When i try create a world on singleplayer it says its loading the map but it does not do so properly and im left in a weird environment that is very blank and buggy, an image of this is attached, I have waited for long periods of time and the map does not load. Please help as iv just bought this game and was very excited to play it with my friends and iv been looking for fixes for hours but failing. Help would be much appreciate, thanks.
