Bug with the execute command

This command works in the message tab but does not work in a command block:

/execute @e[type=Snowball] ~ ~ ~ clone -976 5 -782 -978 7 -780  ~ ~ ~

(assuming that there is a snowball entity)
In the command block previous output it says:
[*Timestamp*] " is not a valid number
