Minecraft extreme lag while doing stuff with command blocks.

I have been doing a lot of stuff with command blocks until I had a large fps drop and everything got very laggy.

What I have expected to happen was...:
Not have any kind of lag.

What actually happened was...:
Everything became very laggy. Mobs receiving damage from player, Redstone repeaters, fps dropped. Although night and day cycles worked fine...
