Cannot speak in chat

I go on a variety of servers in 1.7.2-4, and whenever I speak in chat, the error message "Cannot send chat message", thus making me unable to speak. Please, I plead help or at least why this is happening. (It used to work fine, but within the last week or so it hasn't been working to my favor)
