Server List Wipes After Spam Clicking Reset

In the multi player screen, after spam clicking reset, for a few seconds, the server list wipes, and looks like you never added any servers at all. To fix the problem, I go into the .minecraft file to see that the servers file has changed from servers.dat to servers.dat_tmp. I just take off the _tmp and my server list is back, but I do not know why this is happening, and it can be quite annoying at times.
