Fishing rod line appears at the player's feet.

I was playing around fishing slimes in the air, and I noticed that the fishing rod line looked a bit different, and it seems that it appeared from the player's feet.

I saw that the changelog for the snapshot fixed a bug with the fishing rod so I guess the fix omitted where the line comes from.
