Lava/Water View Glitch

I found this weird glitch in which the game thought i was inside water/lava and put me under the effect that turned my screen blue/red. There WAS lava/water, but it was above me and there was a block separating me from it, causing the water/ lava drip particles to appear, but when I entered the space underneath the block, Minecraft thought I was INSIDE of the liquid block. I am not sure that I described this correctly so this is how to repeat it:

1.Place water or lava in a block.
2. Place block beneath it (so the drip particle effects occur).
3. Stand directly underneath both of these.
