lighting issue

There's no darkness in my mob farm that I built high up in the sky. It is at level 228 and its made out of snow. It should be light level 0 inside but its sunlight level 15 and block light level 0. Not sure what's causing this, I tried to use MCedit to change the block type and it says it can't.
