Suffocated after save, went back to pick up items, experience orbs were with items and just float around me

Background: Saved file when I was in a 1 wide by 3 high tunnel. Came back to file the next day. Found myself suffocating and died. Went back to end of tunnel and picked up remaining items. 4 experience orbs were there too. They float towards me and just float around me blocking my view.
