light issue

I built a mob farm, out of snow blocks, high in the air y 219 to be exact. It is enclosed and should be light level 0 inside but instead it says the sunlight level is 15. Sometimes when I log in it is dark inside but as soon as o get near it, it changes back to sunlight level 15. I've tried using mcedit to change the blocks but it wont let me
