Cannot teleport mobs to players with @e

I was using @e to teleport (Firefox, it's a word!) my wolf to myself in an adventure map relying on teleporters, and my wolf wouldn't teleport itself, so I used @e. It did absolutely nothing, but there was still a message saying that my wolf was teleported. I checked this on Exp. Orbs, as well, and the same thing happened.

What I expected to happen:
My wolf would teleport

What actually happened:
Despite the confirmation message, the wolf did not actually teleport to me.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Type "/tp @e[type=Wolf] ~ ~ ~" (Wolf can be any entity that exists in the loaded chunks)
