The Blaze Rod in the hands of the player is floating (instead of holding it like a stick)

The Blaze Rod in the hands of the player is floating, instead of holding it like a stick or a sword.
This as I assume is a bug, all though it exists since the "beginning of times" and it was never been addressed as such (I guess).
As far as I am concerned it looks completely odd to have a floating rod in your hand, wile other "long vertical" objects are able to seat in the hand nicely.
Pleas take a look at the attached compression pictures (Blaze Rod and Stick) so you can see what I mean.
