When I log on to my friends server the screen is blue and I can only see my HotBar. When I open my inventory the game just crashes.

I log on and the screen goes blue and I cant see anything except my Hot Bar. Then when I open my inventory I don't have my minecraft character in the space where it should be and suddenly the game crashes.
