Chat history in beds

What I expected to happen was the latest chat message would come up after I slept.
What actually happened was nothing.
Steps to reproduce: 1. Make a world, gamemode don't matter.
2. Place a bed and wait for night.
3. Sleep.
4. While sleeping, enter any command. (I did /?)
5. When you wake back up, press / and the up arrow key to bring up the latest chat message you sent.
