piston stuck in a position where it was both pushing and retracted at the same time

When I tried to move a bed with two pistons, the bed dropped as an item like usual, but one of the pistons was stuck in a position where it was both pushing and retracted at the same time, and breaking the redstone current didn't change it's state.
