crash when launching

What I expected to happen was...:
the game might launch

What actually happened was...:
I keep getting crash reports....

Steps to Reproduce:
1. press play in the minecraft launcher 1.3.7 to launch
2. nothing expect another crash report
3. one very upset 9yo on christmas morning
4. I mess about half christmas morning trying to get it working....now one very upset dad
