Certain items when selected within the game cause the environment to disappear.

When I select certain items in the game it glitches out. The environment disappears except lava and water. If I unselect the item and shut the game down completely and then restart it, than everything returns to normal. Items such as torches, ladders, plants, and events such as explosion from TNT will cause this to happen.
