The Dissapearing Fireworks

After I downloaded the newest snapshot I tried to use the fireworks. I turned it to night and tried right away. I launched the fireworks but nothing happened so I waited for about five minutes and tried again.So far I'm having no luck with the fireworks but any help to tell me what I'm doing wrong will be appreciated.
