When I click 'play' the game will open just long enough to display the logo, then crashes.

I opened minecraft, and got the usual display, I was logged in, and on my usual profile. I pressed the 'play' button.
What would usually happen, is the second would open up, and I would proceed to my world or server.

Instead of this, it displayed the logo for a few moments, then crashed, returning to the original tab. I could repeat as many times as i wished, with the same result.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Minecraft launcher (minecraft.app)
2. Press 'play' button
3. Crash
