downloaded minecraft, new profile for vanilla 1.7.4, opens to starter screen but if I try to go create a single player world, it crashes everytime.

Download minecraft.exe, opened up, created a new profile for the new 1.7.4. Put in my login credentials, sign in normally, and get to the main screen of Minecraft. I go to SIngle Player and try to create a new single player world.. hear a funny noise and it crashes everytime. It didn't just happen with 1.7.4.. it was happening with 1.7.2 as well but I didn't care enough to report it but now I do care enough.

What I expected to happen was...:
being able to create a single player world

What actually happened was...:
When I click the "create new world" button for single player, it crashes.

Steps to Reproduce:
Not sure how to reproduce this.

I provided the crash report I receive upon clicking the "create new world" button.
