Right clicking a flint and steel on a cobblestone wall temporarily changes the wall as if it has a torch/block on it

When you right click a flint and steel on a cobblestone wall, the wall changes temporarily as if a block/torch has been placed on it. I have tested it and it happens in both survival and creative.
