Bug: No damage sounds on servers

Put the summary of the bug you're having here
I've recently been playing on servers and it doesn't preduce the damage sounds it did.
What I expected to happen was...:
When I hit someone, there to be a noise. Also, when i get hit.

What actually happened was...:
There was no noise. Not even after re installing 1.7.2

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get on a server
2. Produce damage
3. No sound appears
