Windows 8 Volume Crash

Whilst I'm playing Minecraft I tend to change the volume using the shortcuts on the keyboard (F9 - down, F10 up), and whenever I do this Minecraft crashes and opens the launcher.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Open the Minecraft Launcher
2. Login
3. Join multi-player server
4. Use either F9 or F10 on a Windows 8 PC/Keyboard to change volume
