When pulling out placeable items (torch, saplings, etc.) game does not render blocks anymore

I expected to just pull out a torch as usual, but it broke the game. I tried this with other items; flowers, saplings, etc. and they caused the same issue.
To trigger this just get a torch, sapling, or flower and have it in your hand. It should then trigger this issue.
