Ocelots don't spawn

Ocelots don't spawn in my singleplayer survival world on normal difficulty. I've tried cycling through the different difficulty levels etc, but to no avail. I do get all the other normal mob spawns. The world is from a few versions back, but after creating a whole new world and flying through a jungle in creative mode for over a good 10 minutes, I still haven't seen a single one.
