"open chat" (T) and "open command" (/) keys not responding

The "T" key and the "/" key were doing absolutely nothing. So I couldn't run any commands, nor chat.

"Open chat" and "Open command" were set to their defaults.

I realized the culprit was the options.txt file in my profile directory. By renaming the file to options.txt_OLD, and restarting minecraft, it started working again. (Again, the controls WERE set to their defaults, (as reported by the U.I.) and yet chat and command keys still didn't work, but movement commands did.)
