Blocks aren't braking.

Every time I try to brake a block, it just re-appears. So when the block brakes, it will just respawn. It may be because I have a mac. Also, i can't use fishing rods. These only really appear on servers, though. When I am in single player, think I can use fishing rods and brake blocks. Please fix, I can't really play the game anymore!
