Cactus sprite in Survival and Creative looks separated

I just created a new Minecraft World in pre-release 1.7.2 when I noticed that in Creative the cactus sprite is separated so I dropped a cactus block and changed gamemode to Survival. As a dropped item, it looks normal but when I got it into my inventory, the sprite is separated ( the three visible sides are separated ). It's normal when I place it there.
