Mixed-Up Bed Texture in Minecraft 1.7.2

I noticed that a bed from an older world had a mixed-up texture(see attachment). So, I tried placing a new bed, and it looked fine. I broke it, and placed another one in a different location; this time, a mixed-up texture. I was using no texture packs and was in creative mode. Both times I was placing in corners, but in different directions.
