Disapearing Items

I have been playing the minecraft 1.4.2 prerelease and i noticed that sometimes i would take my items out of a chest then when i went to use them they would disapear only to find them back in the chest the same thing happened when i put items in a chest. i am not sure a way to fix it but i thought i would mention it
