Minecraft Fatal Error

I just recently upgraded my PC to Windows 8, and when I started minecraft and logged in, it gave me an error about my video card. So, I went to Device manager, and updated my video card. It gave me the error again. I thought this was because Minecraft is not compatible with windows 8. Is that the problem?
