Minecraft Server 13w41b does not display chat and log

I started the server and immediately noticed the lack of information in the left column. The only items displayed are Memory Use and Avg Tick. Normally during load I would see loading information display in the log and chat area on the right. None of that displayed. I had my son enter the server and type a message. The message he sent did not display in the log and chat area on the right either. I have attached a screenshot to show what the server program display is like.
