Can't type in Russian in chat

Since Minecraft 1.6 it is not possible to type in Russian in chat. However if you copy text in Russian and paste it into the chat it would display correctly.

Please note, that this issue is not related to MC-3305, as on OS X it was always possible to type in Russian. Latest version that allows to do that is Minecraft 1.5.2.
