'Use Item' Function Stuck/Stuck Placing Blocks

During gameplay in survival, both single player and on servers, while placing blocks, 'use item' control (in reporters case, control-click) gets 'stuck' and places blocks, opens/closes doors, or performs any other 'use item' function until there's no more space to place blocks/it is interrupted by accessing the game menu/user quits.

What I expected to happen was...:
To place a block or open a door once.

What actually happened was...:
Placed blocks until there was no where available to place them. Open and closed doors indefinitely.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a block/Open a door in Survival.
2. Continue until you get stuck 'using item'.
