Cannot connect to LAN

I have recently updated to the 1.4.5 pre-release and tried to LAN with my husband. He opened the LAN, and I could not get on. The he tried to get on my LAN, and he could not connect. We have never had a problem before 1.4.4, and after 1.4.4 we did, that's why I updated to 1.4.5 pre. Still not working, and this was flagged as fixed?
