equipping armor in creative duplication glitch

i expected for when i equipped armor by right clicking the item on my hotbar the item will go from my hotbar into my equipped inventory section

what really happened was when i was in creative I equipped any piece of armor by right clicking it in my hotbar the item went into the inventory wearing section but it also stayed in my hotbar so I had 2 of the same item when i started with one

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to creative mode
2. get any piece of armor on your hotbar
3. right click on that piece of armor and it will stay in the hotbar and another copy of that item was made in my inventory
