Jittering and hitting automatically.

When I'm playing in any game mode my character starts hitting things randomly for a few seconds then stops. The graphics also start flickering GUI and water disappear and reappear rapidly and it sometimes starts automatically scrolling through my hot-bar. I don't know how you could recreate this but it's only happened since I updated to the 13w37b snapshot.
