Sand sometimes doesn't fall down (even when updated)

sand doesn't fall properly sometimes . you can create floating sand by just stacking up a pillar of sand and removing the lower sand blocks ( this doesn't always work but I found that it was still pretty easy to do , I just tried it a few times). Also not all the naturally generated floating sand doesn't update properly when you break one block.
