Really Laggy/Slow / FPS drop after updating to 1.4.4 / 1.4.5

What I expected to happen when I started to play the game was the game to run great or better just like before the update. However, after updating the game to 1.4.4, it seems slower and I am getting only 5-20 fps; them being nearer to 5-10. Before updating, I was getting 25-35 fps on the same settings consistently.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Play MC on 1.4.3
2. Update it
3. Play it
4. Notice how much slower it is.
