Open to LAN - assigning 0.0.0.0 by default - unable to connect to LAN

Failed to connect to server!
Connection refused: connect

was able to play multiplayer until I just updated our computers with 1.4.4
now when open to lan, we are able to see each other but are unable to connect to each other.
Have checked ports, router, etc...
It doesn't assign 127.0.0.1 it assigns 0.0.0.0 and I think this may be the issue.
