Language problems

In Minecraft 1.5 and earlier I had no problems chatting and naming worlds for single player using Cyrillic alphabet (russian). I could write on signs using a russifier mod. But after 1.6 update when I try to type something using Cyrillic, I simply can't type anything. And even a russifier doesn't help, which is very strange. This issue is only on Mac OSX, Windows is completely OK. So now it's extremely uncomfortable for Russian Mac users to play.
