Entity hitbox affects block placing animation

Spider is crawling up blocks and is below a block that I am standing next to. When you place any block it does not play the animation for placing it on your hand, but it does when you break blocks.

What I expected to happen was...:
Block placing animation would play

What actually happened was...:
It didn't play probably because of the spider hitbox

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a 4x4 2 block tall walls

2. Place a block above one of the corners

3. Spawn a spider and let it crawl directly under the block that you placed

4. Walk into the block until you can't move further and place a block
