Jumping from a height of 3 blocks and falling to the ground seems to cause more fall damage

Moving forward and jumping from a height of 3 blocks, before falling 4 blocks distance the ground, I should have received 1 fall damage, but in reality it was 2 fall damage.  at higher or lower heights is not have similar problem.
